This blog title was borrowed from a comment by one of the greatest change agents of the modern era, Mahatma (Mohandas Karamchand) Gandhi. He said:
“I do not want to foresee the future. I am concerned with taking care of the present“.
His point of course, was that all we ever have to work in is the present moment. So how ironic is it that, with his intense focus on making the right choices in each moment, and always seeking truth in every endeavour, he should have been a catalyst for so much change in the societies in which he was active? Subsequently, he was also an inspiration for other great change agents, including Nelson Mandela and Dr Martin Luther King.
PolGovPro Pty Ltd aims to facilitate change through improving the quality and effectiveness of policy and governance processes used by NFP professionals. The focus of PolGovPro training programs and resources is on offering practical approaches to policy and governance in associations, charities and other not-for-profit organisations in Australia – thus answering the question, ‘What can I do now (and tomorrow) to make a difference in my work?‘.
This blog will therefore make a contribution to that endeavour, with news, stories and reflections that seek to help not-for-profit professionals ‘take care of the present’.
